Nicéphore Niépce captured an image from his workroom window using light-sensitive chemicals on a peice of metal. For the first time ever a peice of scenery was captured as a permanent photograph! Nicéphore Niépce was so interested in photography and lithography that he attempted his expierement to capture this photograph by 1813. Obviously, it worked. He named it "Heliographing"
